The society organizes, under professional supervision, weekend workshops of visual arts, in which lovers of fine arts can participate.

These workshops are realized in the atelier of the Society or in the Vrelo Motel, depending on the size of a group. The participants are provided with easels and painting kit, as well as the painting material that can be obtained through this Society.
 

The ecological Society ” Studenac “ from Krepoljin was formed in 1997 with a view to preserve and protect nature, organize different ecological actions, raise the ecological awareness and educate the citizens, above all the young, as well as to cooperate with other movements and societies.

Among many activities, during the decade of its existence, one of the most important is initiation and organizing of the event ” Days of mushrooms and herbs of Homolje “ . First such gathering were of less number, mostly experts that deal with mushrooms and wild growing edible herbs. In the recent years, magnificent exhibitions of mushrooms and herbs are held, the programs are being enriched and the number of guests and visitors from many parts of Serbia and abroad is growing. Owing to it, this event has spread to republic level and entered the calendar of similar exhibitions under the auspices of Mycological Society of Serbia.
 

The most important cultural and touristic manifestation is ” Sabor Vrela Homolja ” ( The Convention of the Wells of Homolje ) in Žagubica.

It is organised as a review of the folk creativity with the specific folk costume, folk instruments, songs and also as a sports event.

Priveg is one of the most archaic and most complex customs from the cult of the dead that can be found today on the European grounds. By organising this manifestation, the cultural heritage that enriches the whole Serbian cultural wealth, is being nurtured.

The night in Gornjak is a manifestation of poetry and visual arts that is traditionally held in the churchyard of Monastery Gornjak.

” Spasovdanski susreti “ – Krepoljin is the show of the folklore in these parts.

The seminars are organized at the weekends and depending on the interest shown, the groups are formed. They are organized in the small hall of the Vrelo Motel, where the attendants are accommodated, too.

The Buk source is lokated at the Buk Mountain, on the right bank of the Do River, below the River Peak which is some 914 meters ( 2745 ft ) above sea level.

The water pours out of a hole, some 20 – 25 cm ( 10 inches ) in diameter, in irregular intervals. There are many legends about the Lost river of Homolje related to the unexplained appearance of water.

 
That is why it is said to possess healing and supernatural powers, which is the reason the offerings are placed at the source during the holy days.

It is settled in the southeast part of the Valley of Krepoljin and Krupaja, in the area of the village Milanovac. Waters of this spring emerge with great strength gromthe big cave hole, and arrive by underground roads from mountain peaks …

Apart from Trška, a church in the village of Ribare, called Šupljaja built in 1874 in the gorge of Ribare, at the meeting point of the Rivers of Osanica and Mlava is also interesting.

The beauty of the source in Žagubica is largely contributed to by forest surroundings of rows of pine trees that reach the very source, giving it dark emerald color.

The clear waters of the river reflect the Vrelo Motel. For Purposes of preservacion of the entire complex, the source of Zagubica and its surroundings have been proclaimed Category I Hidrologic Monument.

Just by the Mitropolija there is a chapel Blagoveštenje. It is told about this chapel in stone that St. Grigorije dwelled in it. Legend says, that princess Jerina ( called ” Jerina the Cursed” ) used to wait for Turk invaders in an ambush and drown them by pushing the dam down.

The gate of this region in the west is the gorge of Gornjak, trough which the river Mlava runs to meet the river Danube. The passage of Gornjak leads on to the mountain Beljanica, the southern borderline of Homolje. Crni Vrh( the Black Peak ) the most eastern part of the area, is facing the town of Bor and the Negotin area; The Homolje Mountains are the northern gate, facing the towns of Majdanpek and Kučevo – Zvižd.

The Municipality of Žagubica is lokated some 167 km ( 100 miles ) away from Belgrade, 80 km ( 45 miles ) from Požarevac, covering the area of 760 square kilometerswith its 17 settlements and population of 15 000 people.

Žagubica is a small town with the population of about 4 000 people and the residence of the Municipality of Žagubica, in the region of Homolje, Eastern Serbia. It is located on the northern side of the Beljanica Mountain, on the banks of the cristal clear river Mlava. It is surrounded by the still intact nature dominated by real pearls and monuments of nature, the uniqueness which captures undivided attention of the experts from around the world.
