<p>The excavations has found that the complex of the old town Ras consists of three locations: Fortress on place Gradina, cave with monastery St. Archangel under the fortress and the settlement Pazarište ( Trgovište ) , where is located church from the XII or XIII century.</p>
<p>All this refers on possibility that this place here was signification spiritual centre in XII century and it was connected with a great Župan Stefan Nemanja.</p>
<p>However, in the town of Ras lies a lot of mystery from the past of Serbian people&#8230;</p>

Of some larger complex, which was done with more buildings, today is preserved.church St. Trinity.</p>
<p>According to architectural concept the church belongs to the classical solutions Raška architectural school. It was constructed with elements that indicate the way of building Romance. In the interior of the church is saved extremely valuable gallery serbian wall painting.</p>
<p>Frescoes in the naos and altar area are among the most important achievements of that time in Europe.</p>
<p>Together with George pillars, Peter&#8217;s church and Ras as a whole, <em>UNESCO</em> 1979. year monastery Sopćane included in <em>the list of world cultural heritage</em>&#8230;</p>

<p>Other structures do not originate from the time of the monastery were built later..<br />
The monastery was renewed by the king Dragutin&#8230;</p>
