In one day you will have as much free time as strength to walk the famous Belgrade “tour” from the plateau where is situated the Cathedral of Saint Sava to the Kalemegdan fortress.

In this description will not be some significant city parts as the Zemun, Skadarlija, Kosančićev venac, a popular museum complexes in Dedinje, because Belgrade belongs to those demanding destination which is not possible to visit in one day.

It would certainly take some time and different time periods. They say that Belgrade is the most beautiful in the spring, but statistics show that tourists often visit Belgrade for the New year, FEST, Belgrade beer fest and other festivals …

So, we start with Belgrade sightseeing from the Svetosavski plateau, where is dominated the second largest Orthodox church in the world (the first one is the Church of Christ the Savior in the Kremlin in Moscow). The Cathedral of Saint Sava was built in the classic Byzantine style with many domes, and is in so many different things unique in the world.
From the Cathedral, the way leads us down the street Saint Sava to the large roundabout Slavija Square.

There are two buildings dominated the roundabout Slavija Square: the building of the National Bank of Serbia and two buildings of Hotel Slavija. Pay attention to the oldest and most original building on the Slavia Square, a house of the famous family Vučo, turned today into a restaurant Mc Donald’s.

This walking tour leads us down the famous street Kralja Milana to the second by its size and significance square, Terazije.
The Square Terazije, a large city place of all important and fateful events in the city is synonym for Belgrade. On the Square Terazije dominates magnificent building of the Hotel “Moscow”, once the capital’s most beautiful building and famous fountain Terazijska česma.

From here we go to the famous Knez Mihailova Street, the pedestrian zone that has the emphasized commercial, cultural and academic significance.

At the beginning of the Knez Mihailova Street there is the central city square – the Republic Square. The Republic Square is the strictest city center. On this square are dominated buildings of the National Museum and National Theatre as well as the equestrian statue of Prince Mihailo, the masterpiece of the Italian sculptor Enrico Pazzi.
The Park Kalemegdan and the Kalemegdan fortress are the unique spatial and ambient entirety. At the same time it is the most attractive and most representative tourist complex in the city. It is a place where is grounded Belgrade.

On the highest plateau on the fort, just above the confluence of the Sava in Danube, is situated a symbol of the city – the Victor statue, a masterpiece of famous Yugoslav sculptor Ivan Meštrović.
Not so far away from here there are many other important signs as the Roman well, the Military Museum, the Gallery of Natural Museum and the Belgrade zoo.
With a walk through the Kalemegdan we finish Belgrade sightseeing optimized for one-day tourist tour.

Welcome to Belgrade!

It is seven kilometers away from the center of Loznica, on the road to Valjevo. Tršić is the birthplace of Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, a Serbian linguist and major reformer of Serbian language and spelling. There is a memorial complex in the village, which comprises the authentic facilities of folk architecture.

The complex encompasses 35 facilities that are under protection of the state, including museums, galleries, water mills, church, old crafts workshop and other dedicated facilities.

The central place within the complex is occupied by Saborište, which is a complex with an amphitheatre where annual Vukov Sabor event is organized. Special entity in this complex is Vuk’ s estate with his house and auxiliary buildings.

The Association of Householders Tršić was formed in 2006 with the aim of improving and promoting rural tourism in Vuk’ s region.
Six active households with total accommodation capacity of 62 beds cherish the householding spirit of western Serbia and insist on hospitality and domestic cuisine specialties.
The Association of Householders is also engaged in elaboration and realization of numerous projects that promote, educate, offer additional contents and attract many visitors.
Every year, international volunteer camp Eco – camp Tršić and Multimedia Art Colony gather young activists and artists whose participation in these events and concrete campaigns contribute to the cultivation of Vuk’ s region. In this way, Tršić becomes the meeting place of tradition and contemporary tendencies that help this area move with the times.
In addition to excellent accommodation capacities and food, cultural and historical heritage, we are also very proud of the surrounding nature that provides the conditions for active and quality vacation.

All of these offer opportunities for recreation and an active vacation.

The thermal waters of Jugovo, at a depth from 746m to 862m, and a temperature of 66 degrees Celsius, increased mineral content and high salinity that give it a flavor of seawater, represent a local potential for the development of spa tourism.

This is the place where, on his return from Italy in 1806, Dositej Obradović set foot on the land of free Serbia. He left behind the following words about Jugovo : ” Ah, my brothers! How short my whole seems, now that I’ ve seen the Smederevo landscapes! One can see here that not even the Turks were deprived of good taste. They stayed with the Serbs, to be ruled by them, just to avoid giving up all this beaty “.

At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, with the establishment of a bourgeois class and their increased wealth, summer houses were added to many of the vineyards and were meant for family vacations. The areas around the houses were made into beautiful parks and woods, and fruit orchards were added to the vineyards.

On Plavinac, near Smederevo, prince Miloš bought a property with a vineyard in 1829, and on it he built a wine cellar. At the request of queen Natalija, in 1897 the modest one – story summerhouse of prince Mihajlo was added onto, and reconstructed into an opulent, for that time, summer court by the court architect Jovan Ilikić. All the members of the ruling Obrenović family stayed there, from prince Mihajlo to King Aleksander, when they visited the traditional grape harvest in ” The King Vineyard “.

The Obrenović family property, with its villa, woods and vineyards, covers an area of 36ha.

Beside their basic purpose, they were used as accomodation to their owners on the way to Negotin market days.

There used to be around 300 cellars, owned by people from Stubik and other village, and now there are only 30 of them preserved.

They are ground floor buildings with veranda or floor buildings with ground floor built of stone and first floor built of beam with roof covered with old – fashioned tiles. This other kind of cellars were originslly built by craftsmen from the south and later by the local people.

As well as in other complexes, there were restaurant, butchery and bakeries.

The complex is consisted of around 150 cellars.

In the middle of this wine village there is a central square, gathering cult place, inscription, well and an old mulberry tree. Streets are of various widths, but they allow communication with cellars from both front and back side.

They are built of soft sandstone bricks, mainly square. The doors are square, many with stone arches above them. The back part of the cellar is dug into the ground, which provides necessary humidity and air temperature between 12 and 18 degrees C. The roofs are covered with the old-fashioned tiles. The cellars point from South to North. It is a custom to write the owner’ s name and the year
of built above the front door, and to carry it on from father to son.

The oldest stone – built cellar with the date was built in 1861, but there are many beam – built much older cellars. Once, there used to be two bakeries, the butchery and a building where lectures were held for winegrowers. All village gatherings always end up in cellars with outstanding wine and plenty of food.

It was built in the mid – 19th century as the endowment of the mother of Abdul Hamid.

Its size and shape make it a significant urban detail of the place.

Regarding its construction, it has all the characteristics of monumental architecture, with a dominant large dome, around 15 m in diameter. This dome of fascinating size is built of wood, but was originally made from lead sheets.

The people have preserved a legend about how the mosque came to be built. Rebels and outlaws robbed caravans carrying Validáis goods, the legend says. When she recovered her goods and ducats after a longtime, she gave it all for the construction of a mosque in Sjenica, for her soul, where the people could pray to their god.

The complex is formed as a close group of 270 cellars around the central square with drinking fountain and gathering cult place. There are curved streets with smaller squares all around the main square.

They are built of stone, often ashlars, or beams, cover with the old – fashioned tiles. Houses are connected by streets and squares.

Cellars are partly dug into the ground to keep a constant air temperature during the year, and on the first floor are rooms for accommodation of winegrowers during the vintage. There are two opp0site entrances in two levels or window if there is no second entrance which is used for putting in the wooden gutter for pouring grapes into the barrel. The oldest cellars, as well as neighboring gravestones were made by the craftsmen for the south.

This unique stone town has always been the habitat of the wine.
